First Pointe Shoes

Today was such a special day! Five Nantucket Ballet dancers took the boat to The Dancer's Place in Hyannis to find their very first pointe shoes! Dancers spend years training in anticipation of getting their pointe shoes. There are a number of factors that indicate if a student is ready: dedication (they must be taking two or more ballet classes per week), strength in the feet, ankles and core, and maturity, we also require that the student has taken at least one session of pre-pointe which helps the dancer to prepare for shoes! Now that we have the shoes the next step will be to sew the ribbons and elastics, then we can finally start en pointe!
